Muslim League (Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat on Monday issued a show-cause notice to fellow party leader Pervez Elahi and suspended his membership in response to his statements on the party's possible merger with the PTI.

After hearing Elahi's statements late on Sunday night, Shujaat called an emergency meeting. A day earlier, Elahi had addressed the possible merger of the Muslim League (Q) and PTI, saying that his party would (today) decide to resolve the issue after their consultative meeting on Monday…

Elahi was more honest in his response at other times, his son Munis Elahi similarly wanted both parties to enter politics and develop a consensus. "Any combination like this will strengthen the party," Elahi said.

According to the show cause letter, 'strict notice' was taken of Elahi's remarks in the meeting of top leaders of Muslim League-Q.

"You need to justify the unconstitutional and unethical conduct," according to the notice.

It said that Muslim League (Q) has its own identity, vote bank, party discipline, and manifesto, all of which were violated by Elahi's statements.

‘’Elahi has been given seven days to explain his views or else action will be taken against him under Articles 16 and 50 of the party constitution, the notification said, unless he provided an explanation. Jati, Elahi's primary party membership has been suspended’’

Show-cause notice to Moonis and others

A show-cause notice was also sent to Monis, Hussain Elahi, and Senator Kamil Ali Agha, stating that they were joining another party along with Pervez.

He continued by saying that if any of them wanted to join another party, they should leave their posts and resign, otherwise the Muslim League (Q) would ask the Election Commission of Pakistan to de-seat them. There will be no other option.

The notification gave them seven days to explain themselves.
