The action comes only days after the Punjab Assembly was dissolved, with PTI Chairman Imran Khan vowing to distance himself from the "current corrupt political system" by leaving the two chambers where he is in control.

According to Awarenesspk, a notification from the governor was sent to CM Mahmood and Leader of the Opposition Akram Khan Durran. According to Clause 1 of Article 112 of the Constitution, the KP Assembly and provincial cabinet were dissolved with immediate effect.

"A summary of the dissolution of the CCP legislature will be delivered to the governor on Tuesday as directed by leader Imran Khan," the CM said in a tweet.

The statement came during an online meeting at CM House attended by Imran, the KP government, and former KP governor Shah Farman.
